The “Achille Bertarelli” Civic Collection of Prints is an institute of the City of Milan that holds a noteworthy collection of prints and drawings consisting of more than a million pieces.
The collection was established in 1927 upon receiving the legacy from the Milanese patron and collector of the art after whom it is named. It holds valuable prints and iconography of daily life, such as representations of historical events and happenings, geographical maps, urban maps and city views, pictures of monuments, portraits, costumes, popular and trendy figurines, toy soldiers and games, graphic documentation from theatres and set designs, means of transport, etc.
The selection of files available online includes images (posters, catalogues, prints and newspaper cuttings) relating to the years 1870-1956. The files can be downloaded in PDF format.
