Archivio Nicolò Nefri

Born in Savona in 1928, Nefri graduated in Genoa in Economics and then moved to Milan, where he joined Rinascente at the age of 30 as the director of the Study Office. He soon took on operational responsibilities, and was subsequently appointed general director and CEO in 1977. With Nefri at the helm, the company tripled its sales, and diversified its business into the DIY, fast food and hypermarket sectors.
He later served as the president of Unitel, and then chairman of HdP and RCS Libri from 1997 to 2002. In April 2003, he was appointed chairman of Finsiel. He was a Board Member at Galbani, Credito Artigiano, Stefanel and Luigi Bocconi University.
In 1986, he was awarded the Cavaliere del lavoro (“Knight of Labour”) honour. He passed away in 2014, aged 86.
